In 1967 Los Angeles, a widowed mother and her daughters add a new stunt to bolster their seance scam business by inviting an evil presence into their home, not realizing how dangerous it is.
Trivia
• Mike Flanagan in an interview revealed that the original cut was 130 minutes with 40 minutes removed from the final cut. Doug Jones’s scenes as the devil’s doctor trimmed or removed entirely, Chelsea Gonzales’s scenes as Gloria were cut as well, and Kate Siegel had at least 2 more scenes which include another visit to the Zanders’ and the choking scene with her father.
• Annalise Basso and Kate Siegel reunite with Mike Flanagan, whom they worked with when they appeared in Oculus (2013), with Siegel also appearing in Hush (2016).
• Lulu Wilson (Doris Zander), Elizabeth Reaser (Alice Zander), Kate Siegel (Jenny Browning) & Henry Thomas (Father Tom) would go on to work together on The Haunting of Hill House (2018) as Young Shirley, Shirley Crain, Theodora Crain & Young Hugh Crain respectively.
